Sometimes, tragedy strikes that’s so heartbreaking, there’s no easy way to begin. So we’ll just start by saying that we’re sure General Hospital alum Coby Ryan McLaughlin (ex-Shiloh) would appreciate it if you kept him in your thoughts and sent some love his way. The actor took to Instagram to share the news in an achingly heartfelt post that his girlfriend had passed away.

It was something that, he admitted, he’d tried sharing earlier, but he couldn’t quite do it, as it, understandably “felt too soon… I think it will always feel too soon…”

He then went on to write a note to his “beautiful beloved,” beginning with “The first thing I noticed about you was how you moved. Always in some sort of fluid motion… even when you were sitting still; always swaying to a melody that only you could hear. Music. I could feel it when you touched me. We moved as one. Always in step. Easy.”

The images he shared of their relationship were poetic and beautiful, as McLaughlin’s farewell invited us in to understand what made their love so special.

“My heart would explode with the love I felt for you,” McLaughlin continued. “My person. My friend. My beloved. I am utterly destroyed from your early departure. I could not fathom the amount of pain that you were in. I could not help you. I could not save you. I know there will be a light again somewhere, someday, but today I am completely empty, and my despair bottomless.”

He went on to conclude that, “I know you found the peace you needed. I’m sorry it couldn’t be in this lifetime. I promise I will find you again. I will know it’s you. I will come to you, and we will once again move in step, bound in an endless union that knows no time, and has no constraints. I love you endlessly, my beautiful woman. Until the next lifetime.”
We can not imagine the depth of his grief, but our condolences go out to McLaughlin in this incredibly difficult time, and we hope that he, too, can find peace from this pain.
