As soap fans, some of the most passionate fans around, there are often times — or 10, or 20, or… — when we become so absorbed in certain storylines that we can’t hold back our emotions… whether we love to hate a villain, laugh when one of our faves does something comical or cry when a scene and dialogue seems so real that it hits us right in the gut. The same can be said for the daytime stars as well, as General Hospital’s Laura Wright (Carly) recently expressed.

“Loved these scenes, Maurice Benard,” Wright stated while posting a screenshot of Sonny and Carly from the May 20th episode. “And incredible work today, Kate Mansi, you made me cry.”

It all began in Port Charles when Kristina heard Sonny scream that he was going to kill Dex and Jason. She became so startled that she rushed into the ladies room where Sonny found her shortly after. Though he begged to explain his outburst, and said the men turned on him, Kristina ordered him to leave then later broke down in front of Blaze, devastated to realize who her father really was.

Kristina is horrified GH

When Carly found Sonny, who relayed how scared he had made his daughter, he feared no one loved him anymore. Though Kristina could never un-see that side of Sonny, Carly assured him that his daughter still loved him and advised that he give her some space —and to never act that way again. However, Sonny couldn’t make any promises.

Of the scenes, Benard shared a post of his own and thanked “everyone for the incredible discussions on mental health” surrounding the episode. He also thanked the writers for “understanding, bipolar” and expressed, “So many great performances. We put a lot of hard work into what we do, we really appreciate you watching…”

Fans replied to Wright and Benard’s posts and loved the scenes as well, and if there’s one thing we know, Carly and Sonny have given us many emotional moments over the years and we can bet that there will be many more to come.
