General Hospital spoilers reveal Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco) told Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna) the truth — she’s not comfortable with his line of work.
Maybe Sam had reservations about Dante being a cop before he was shot, but his near-death experience has been a traumatizing event for her that she can’t seem to shake off, despite his survival and full recovery.
Still, Sam couldn’t reason with herself that breaking up their family would solve the problem. That’s an interesting paradox since she felt differently about her marriage to Jason Morgan (Steve Burton).
There might be some plot holes in this storyline that need to be filled, but fans are concerned that Sam isn’t going to be able to hack being with a cop for much longer.

Sam can’t help that she fell in love with another man whose life is on the line every day. For some reason, she fooled herself into believing there was less risk of harm in Dante’s life merely because he was working on the right side of the law.
But the people who would be shooting at or otherwise attacking him were no different than the men who would shoot at or attack her ex-husband, Jason.
So why the hypocrisy? She clearly never held it against Jason that he routinely broke the law or even murdered people. She just didn’t want her kids to lose their dad because of his reckless career. Why does Dante get a pass when she couldn’t hack it before?
GH Spoilers Claim Sam Seeks Safety, Still
Ultimately, most fans don’t see Sam and Dante working out. She may think she can ignore the fear that lurks in her mind every day that Dante has to go off to work, but it’s going to consume her.
Having to calm herself down all the time and stay vigilant of the fact that she can’t do anything to prevent Dante from being shot again — or worse — is only going to lead to brewing resentment for Sam. Will Dante be the target?

Fans are calling Sam a hypocrite based on a couple of factors. First and foremost, they’re tired of her getting involved with men and later changing her mind about her comfort level with them.
She was madly in love with Jason for over a decade and later spontaneously changed her mind about being okay with his line of work.
Now, in the wake of Dante being shot, she’s done the same thing to him. Furthermore, she has treated Jason like the red-headed stepchild of fathers, not wanting him anywhere near their son when she knows better and knows he’s a good father.
If Sam walks away from Dante and breaks up their family down the road all because of her own anxiety about him being a cop, she will be removing from their lives the stability she was so desperately seeking for her children after Jason disappeared.
